Days Inn - Dublin

The architectural requirements of this Days Inn hotel required a curved structure which was achieved by constructing wedge shaped modular units, fitted out as bedrooms in Caledonian’s Newark factory. The structural approach is similar to that of many of Caledonian’s hotel buildings, in this instance employing an in-situ concrete frame to provide the ground floor open plan areas for reception, restaurant and bar etc. The bedrooms were manufactured as fully fitted modular units, pre-finished in the Caledonian factory, shipped to site and craned into position on top of the concrete podium structure.

  • 146 bedrooms, provided over six-storeys over a traditionally-constructed ground floor concrete podium
  • £4.6 million modular package
  • Composite panel external claddings (by others)
  • Generally low-maintenance single ply roofing membrane over tapered insulation with feature steelwork mounted off the modular structure (by others)
