Hilton Hotel - Luton
Caledonian was selected to provide the first Hilton Hotel to be constructed by modern methods of construction in the UK.
Undertaking a “breather paper inwards” scope of works, Caledonian formed the main reception/restaurant on the ground floor, together with a first floor gymnasium and second floor utilising an in-situ steel frame with the bedrooms. Meeting rooms and back-of-house areas formed via the modular structure.
Additionally, Caledonian undertook the roofing package and forming of all high and low level parapets leaving the main contractor, Gleeson Building, responsible for the site establishment, foundations and substructure works, utilities, external claddings and glazed curtain walling.
In addition to a three star plus level of interior fit-out, the building provided further technical enhancements in relation to an upgraded floor construction, four pipe heat/cool air conditioning system served by separate chiller and biomass boiler plant and the achieving of a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating. All this was achieved within a 24 week modular siteworks period.
