Established in 1996, Caledonian’s early focus was in the construction of highly secure prison cells for HM Prison Service, where the design and robustness of the modular system has been proven in the construction of over 7500 cells. Caledonian continues to be a Strategic Alliance Constructor for HM Prison Service, constructing accommodation, ancillary buildings (eg. kitchens, gatehouses, education, visitor centres, etc. etc.) and complete new prison facilities, operating as Principle Contractor and Designer.

The company’s expertise has progressively been applied to other markets; the benefits of rapid build extend very easily into the Hotel sector and Caledonian typically constructs 3 hotels per year for 3 and 4* branded operators. Caledonian’s design teams have also established significant expertise and experience of the accommodation needs of the Ministry of Defence. Early involvement in the development of service personnel accommodation and continuing involvement in Project SLAM and other MoD PFI schemes, has given Caledonian’s dedicated MoD business unit unparalleled experience of military construction, with over 4000 accommodation units now in service.

With the growth in the multi-storey Residential accommodation market, Caledonian has developed modular solutions which achieve the architectural features, height (up to 20 storeys) and sustainable credentials which ensure that off-site construction is an essential consideration for all Residential developers. With a dedicated Residential team, Caledonian’s experience in the construction of homes is significant.

In addition to the above Caledonian and ModularUK have delivered many projects for the Health, Education and Commercial Office sectors, delivering off-site benefits across the construction industry.
