Caledonian Building Systems build UK's tallest modular building
Caledonian Building Systems has recently finished the installation of the modules to complete the UK’s tallest modular building at the Paragon site in Brentford, Middlesex.
The eighteen storey structure comprises of 413 modules and will provide 577 en-suite student bedrooms with associated dining and communal areas.
Installed over a continuous period of 12 weeks, the building will be ready for occupation by the end of August 2006.
This is the first time that modular construction has been used for a high rise scheme within the UK and has been developed in conjunction with Capita Symonds structural engineers.
The building is part of a mixed use development for Berkeley First providing a total of 839 en-suite student bedrooms and 172 keyworker units comprising of 72 en-suite studio bedrooms, 41 one bedroom flats and 61 two bedroom flats.
