The Paragon Project - Brentford, London

This prestigious inner city project for Berkeley First, a division of Berkeley Homes, incorporates a mix of student, key worker and affordable one and two bedroom apartments available for mortgage. The 5 accommodation blocks, incorporate 1060 accommodation units, and range from 4 storey to 8, to 11 and culminate at 18 storeys - thought to be the tallest modular building in the world. The project was awarded Major Housing Project of the Year 2007.

From start on site, the whole development, which also included teaching facilities for Thames Valley University, took 22 months to complete – a full 12 months less than that which would have been required for traditional construction. The benefits of early occupation and revenue generation enabled the project to deliver substantial commercial benefits to the Client.

The modular accommodation storeys are built over a concrete podium which provides an underground car park for the building and slip formed concrete cores provide stairs and lift shafts. All of the accommodation spaces are fully modular, with rooms completed in terms of windows, doors, finishes, fixtures and M&E fit out – final M&E connections, decorations and carpeting were the only trades required on site to complete the accommodation construction.
